Lesson 3 — Where are you from?
Practice speaking about countries and nationalities
How to answer well
Speak slowly and clearly. Always use full sentences! Instead of just "Brazil", say "I'm from Brazil." When saying your nationality, remember: country and nationality are different words — "I am from Japan" / "I am Japanese." Practise the pronunciation of each country name before recording.

Model answers

Q: Where are you from? "I'm from Brazil. I'm from the city of Salvador, in the state of Bahia."
Q: What is your nationality? "I'm Brazilian. My nationality is Brazilian."
Q: Is she American? "No, she isn't. She is from the United Kingdom. She is British."
Q: What language do they speak? "They are from Spain, so they speak Spanish."
Q: Are you Korean? "No, I'm not Korean. I'm Brazilian. I speak Portuguese."
